Research
Without subtitles, many school districts could not do business with us. Educators needed to be able to use subtitles to comply with their district’s accessibility mandates.
When creating video content, users need to be able to edit any generated subtitles to ensure names and locations are accurately represented.
Subtitles were so important to our users, they were finding tedious workarounds to get subtitles on their videos.
Workarounds: Some users added individual text layers over their videos and manually wrote out and positioned the text in the editor to create subtitles.
The solution: editable, auto-generated subtitles
After exporting their video, users can auto-generate subtitles, make edits to the auto-generated subtitles, then download or share their video along with the subtitle file.
Outcomes and metrics
Auto-generated subtitles
110,600
Since it’s launch in December 2022, 110,600 subtitle files have been auto-generated by 66,000 unique users. On top of that, by complying with accessibility mandates across school districts, we unlocked new sales opportunities across the US. Since this release we have introduced multi-language subtitles & the ability to burn subtitles into the video file.
